The Place

Versailles Home Palace is a historic apartment with a usable living space of 1776 sq. ft. in a mansion built in 1705.
A two minute walk away from the Palace of Versailles, the apartment is located on the « noble floor » which is the first level above the ground floor.

VERSAILLES HOME PALACE can be occupied in its entirety or divided into two completely independent wings, each with an external staircase.

Both wings have two bedrooms (each bedroom can host two people) and the sitting room has a double sofa bed.

VERSAILLES HOME PALACE offers several accommodation options:

⁃ Either a big place of reception or a very large private residence with four bedrooms, two sitting rooms, an anteroom, three bathrooms, a dining room and two kitchens (one independent and the other open-plan)

⁃ Or two very spacious apartments that work simultaneously and independently and are equipped with bathrooms and kitchens.

The interior shutters of the main rooms match the woodwork on the walls, thus allowing to make the windows vanish at night, which gives an intimate atmosphere accentuated by subdued lighting.

Some of the lights in the Grand Apartment are in the style of the candles of the time.

A nighttime slideshow makes Versailles Home Palace’s atmosphere alluring after dark, and the daytime photos show how the apartment is brightly filled with natural light.

The mansion in which Versailles Home Palace is located was built at the same time as the Royal Chapel of the Palace of Versailles, which was completed in 1710.

Versailles Home Palace is a historical site that is similar in every way to the “Petits Appartements” on the second floor of the Palace of Versailles: the same woodwork and fireplaces, the same parquet floors, the same alcove and the same ceiling height.

The property has been preserved in its original state and the complete renovation of the premises has not taken anything away from the character of this apartment.

The Club

Versailles Home Palace is a private club that offers stays of one night or more to its members who are made up of the customers of the major hotels which have subscriptions to Versailles Home Palace.
Each reserved stay is limited to three months.

Versailles Home Palace’s mobile surveillance cameras are removed from the apartment during the stay of the club members and no video surveillance is on the street nor in the building, which allows the guests to reside in the apartment in total discretion.

Once on site, you can live in total anonymity: there is no reception where you would collect your keys, nor any constraints of the sorts.

The reception and the stay are done without prying eyes.

As for the cleaning, it is done at the requested time.

Versailles Home Palace offers a grand hotel service and also allows you to feel completely at home.

Catering is not provided but Versailles Home Palace is surrounded by restaurants of all categories which are presented in a guide of the district available in the apartment.

Home delivery of ready meals is of course possible, if the members of the club would like to benefit from this service.

Other services are offered such as the purchase of products ordered at the time of booking and delivered on site before the keys are handled.

Versailles Home Palace is connected to reliable, hi-speed fibre optic cables which provides fast and easy internet access.

The four bedrooms and the two sitting rooms each have a widescreen television hidden by a tapestry board and are equipped with DVD players and international programs.

A  historic  apartment

The building of Versailles Home Palace is often referred to in the texts of the time as “Hôtel de Maintenon” and it is likely that Louis XIV had it built to offer a refuge sheltered from the Palace Court to Madame de Maintenon whom he had secretly married in 1683.

Madame de Maintenon, who had first been the governess of the royal children, would have become queen of France if the news of her marriage to Louis XIV had been made public.
Therefore the secret of this marriage was well kept at the time, even if everyone had suspected it and discussed the matter which can be found in the correspondence of the time.

A letter from Madame de Maintenon indicates that after the death of Louis XIV she burned and had destroyed all the documents concerning the royal couple she formed with Louis XIV.
Therefore, there are little remains of this mysterious marriage and only library research makes it possible to discover the paths of history through the texts of the time.

Nowadays, there is also talk of a walled underground tunnel that started from the king’s room and ended in the cellars of the Hôtel de Maintenon (which are worth a visit).
There were many hidden paths in the Palace of Versailles at the time.

The “Salon Alcôve” in the North Wing of Versailles Home Palace was probably Madame de Maintenon’s bedroom when she wanted to avoid the Court’s pressure.
The « Grand Salon » in the South Wing of Versailles Home Palace was most likely her boudoir.

Only very comfortable furniture and all modern facilities are proof of the change of era.

Woodwork, parquet floors, fireplaces and mirrors are all original and the aristocratic spirit of the place is still present, maintained by its owner who’s ensuring that his apartment retains the splendor of the great century.
